Frequently asked questions

The questions we are asked most often, about licences, accreditation and using AutoPSI values in a formal submission.

Trying AutoPSI

Do you offer a free trial?

Yes. A 14-day free trial, which needs a card to start it. You can start a free trial and be modelling straight away.

Do I need to download anything?

No. AutoPSI is cloud-based and runs in your web browser, so your licence is not tied to one machine. You can use it from the office, from home or on site.

What does AutoPSI cost?

Professional is £749 per year or £69 per month, and Teams, which adds up to three team members, is £1,495 per year or £149 per month, both excluding VAT. Enterprise is priced on application. See pricing for what each plan includes.

What if there is no template for my junction?

Build it in Free Draw. You are not limited to the template library, and a non-standard detail can be drawn layer by layer. Templates are also added continually, so if you send our support team your drawings and requirements we will work to add yours.

Can I create my own materials?

Yes. Under your account, choose Materials and create one with its own K-value, colour and hatch. It saves to your material library and can be used in any model, and on a Teams plan it goes to your shared team library, so everyone works from the same values.

Are licences per company or per individual?

Licences are per email address. If you need several people working in AutoPSI, the Teams plan is the better fit: it adds collaboration features, shared junctions and onboarding for the team.

Sharing one login is possible but not recommended: only one person can be signed in and working at a time.

Compliance and accreditation

Can I use AutoPSI values directly in a SAP submission?

Yes. Calculations completed in AutoPSI are accurate and acceptable for direct use in formal SAP submissions. The software meets both BR497 and BS EN ISO 10211:2017 Annex C. Model the junction, take the Ψ-value and enter it into your submission.

Will my reports be suitable for audit?

Yes. AutoPSI is fully accredited software, and we work closely with certification bodies including Elmhurst and TrustMark, so reports meet the audit criteria for both new build and retrofit models.

What is the certification requirement for thermal modelling?

The requirement is that the user is a “competent person”. That competence can come from formal competency training, professional certification, or experience.

Does AutoPSI support 3D calculations?

Not at present. AutoPSI covers 2D calculations, with self-accreditation in BR497 for 2D work.

Results and reporting

What does AutoPSI calculate?

Two metrics from the same thermal bridge model: the Ψ (psi) value, which quantifies heat loss at the junction, and fRSI, the internal surface temperature factor used to assess condensation and mould risk. See what PSI values are and what fRSI is.

Can I put our logo on the reports?

Yes. Reports are fully customisable with your company information and branding. Bespoke reports with your logo are included on the Teams plan.

Still stuck?

These are the questions we are asked most often. For step-by-step guidance on modelling particular junctions (templates, boundaries, U-value placement, free draw and saving your work), the AutoPSI thermal modelling guides in the Help Centre go into more detail, and our technical support team can review a model with you.
